Attention: Unknowing Toyota Owners!
Hey, Toyota Owners! Did you realize what a dangerous car you’re driving?
Until a few months ago, you thought it was the best car you’d ever owned – right? How wrong you were! Don’t you remember the times you put on the brakes and it accelerated instead? Oh, you don’t remember those. How about the time you speeded up and your wife told you that you were going too fast? Yeah, you remember that, but you thought it was just your wife, as usual.
Or maybe I’m the only one. All these three-plus years, I’ve thought my Prius was the best car I’ve ever had. No problems.
Now we all know different.
But wait a minute. If all the wave of complaints is true and Toyota has been covering them all up, well, it’s about time Congress stepped in and saved us. That’s their job. And a little investigation is not going to cost us all those billions of dollars they’ve been throwing around. Go ahead, Fearless Defenders in Washington. And by the way, we know that you’ll follow up with similar probes into the malaprops of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.
Here’s the Big Kazoo in all this: How would you like to be hauled before a Board of Inquiry in Congress where Congress owned a big part of your competitors? That’s right. Our government, represented by Congress, owns a major slab of General Motors and Chrysler. Not only that. Many of the Congressional inquisitors own stock personally, and moreover, how many Congressmen owe their jobs to the massive power of the U.S. auto industry? Can’t you imagine the glee of these super patriots thinking, “Now, By Golly, we’ve finally got these foreign intruders in our gun sites!”
Something’s out of line here.
Sure, if any of the above companies are covering up major defects, go get ‘em. Meanwhile, as one Prius owner who has never had a speck of trouble, along with others who’d like to make sure there’s some fairness in the Big Inquest, I say:
Toyota Owners of the World Unite, You Have Nothing To Lose Except Your Rebates!
